Hong Kong Hollywood film star based in Hong Kong, who had previously been criticized for supporting China’s hard action on pro-democracy protests in the former British colonies, had stated the willingness to join the Powerful Chinese Communist Party (CPC).
The 67-year-old actor expressed his desire to join CPC at the symposium held last week, where people in Chinese film had shared their thoughts about the main speech delivered by President Xi Jinping on July 1 at the centenary celebration.
At the symposium, Jackie Chan, who is also the Deputy Chairperson of the Chinese Film Association, talked about his interest in joining the Mr.
“I can see the greatness of the CPC, and it will give what he said, and what he promised in less than 100 years, but only a few decades,” Chan said.
“I want to be a member of the CPC,” he added.
According to the Global Times report, this behavior reflects the growing trend among the Hong Kong elites to adopt a more rational approach to understanding the BPK “amid city reflection in its position and seeking its development in the future”.
However, Jackie Chan’s support for Mr. is not new. He has supported the party for years and served as a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) – a professional advisory body nominated by the party.
Chan previously said in 2019: “I have visited many countries, and I can say, our country has grown rapidly in recent years. I feel proud to be Chinese wherever I go, and the five-star red flag is respected everywhere in the whole world. “
“Hong Kong and China are my homes and my homes. China is my country, I love my country, I love my house. I hope Hong Kong can immediately return to peace.”
