American rapper Rick Ross is reportedly doing well following an alleged altercation during his performance at the Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver, Canada, on June 30, 2024.
The incident, which occurred while Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was performing, was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media. The footage shows Ross engaging in a heated argument with a male attendee, which escalated when the man punched Ross in the face, leading to a physical confrontation.
Another piece of footage from the festival shows a man lying unresponsive on the ground, reportedly having been knocked unconscious during the altercation.
Despite numerous attempts by media outlets to get comments from Ignite Music Festival organizers and Vancouver Police representatives, no official statements have been made.
On July 2, 2024, Rick Ross addressed the incident indirectly through an Instagram post, where he shared a photograph of himself in front of a jet plane. Captioning the photo, Ross wrote, “Vancouver it was fun, till next time,” without mentioning the attack.
Later, Ross spoke to TMZ, assuring fans that neither he nor his team members sustained serious injuries. He expressed his appreciation for Vancouver, saying, “Vancouver is a beautiful city, and I can’t wait to go back.”
In contrast, fellow rapper 50 Cent issued a sarcastic statement about the incident. In a video, he commented, “Hey guys. I just saw a very unfortunate situation that took place in Canada, and I want to say to everyone that I hope that brother made it home safely. I hope that he now has a different perspective and a better sense of what to do and what not to do while you’re out in the world. That part where that young guy did this little move and got knocked the f— out — that does not reflect him. That reflects his camp.”
Despite the unfortunate incident, it appears Rick Ross remains in good spirits and looks forward to future performances.
