Child of Kamiari Month is a film directed by Takana Shirai (Children of the Sea, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I: The Egg of the King) about Kanna, a little girl who has lost her joy of running when her mother dies. Kanna, on the other hand, crosses the line between humans and gods after meeting Shiro, a rabbit and god’s messenger, and Yato, an ogre youngster. The film is based on Japanese legend of gods congregating at the Izumo Taisha Shrine during Kamiarizauki, another name for October in the lunar calendar.

Haruka Sagawa (Call of the Night), Yoshikazu Iwanami (Sword Art Online the Movie – Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night), and Kazuya Sakamoto (Kill la Kill) are among the creative team members for Child of Kamiari Month. Kanna is played by Aju Makita from True Mothers, Shiro is played by Maaya Sakamoto from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and Yato is played by Miyu Irino from Spirited Away.

 Closure

Kanna (CV: Aju Makita) is a young woman who, following her mother’s death, can no longer face her beloved “running.” A rabbit named Shiro (Maaya Sakamoto), a shinshi (god’s messenger), and a kid named Yasha (Miyu Irino), an oni (ogre), come at her one day. Kanna is admitted into Izumo after crossing the line between people and gods.

Kamiarizuki (the month of the gods) is yet another term for October in the lunar calendar in the ancient Izumo area, which served as the basis for the film (now Shimane prefecture). The storey is based on the legend that during Kamiarizauki, gods from all across Japan congregate at the Izumo Taisha Shrine. Kannazuki is the name given to it in various parts of Japan (the month when there are no gods).
