American singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter has just unveiled the music video for her latest single, “Please Please Please.” The video, released on Thursday afternoon, stars her real-life boyfriend, Barry Keoghan. Directed by Bardia Zeinali and produced by the ten-time Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff, known for his collaborations with Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Lana Del Rey, the video brings a unique visual narrative to Carpenter’s new song.
The video begins with Sabrina watching as Barry Keoghan, playing her boyfriend, is dragged into jail. Throughout the video, Keoghan is repeatedly arrested for various misdemeanors, including robbing banks and fighting. Each time he is released, Sabrina is there to collect him. The climax of the video shows Sabrina cuffing Keoghan to a chair and taping his mouth shut.
The song’s lyrics, “Please, please, please don’t bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice,” reflect Sabrina’s frustration as she bails him out time and again. The chorus emphasizes her plea: “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, motherf***er. Please, please, please.”
Recently, the 25-year-old singer announced on Instagram the release date for her sixth album, “Short n’ Sweet.” The new video also addresses the curiosity sparked by the cryptic message in her previous social media post.
For those who may not know, Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan went public with their relationship earlier this year, making their debut as a couple on the red carpet at the Met Gala.
