Rap mogul Sean Diddy Combs has finally acknowledged his wrongdoing. Just days after CCTV footage of his abusive behavior surfaced online, he has taken responsibility for his actions.
The viral video shows Diddy assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016. In response, Diddy released an apology video on Instagram, describing his behavior as inexcusable.
The 54-year-old rapper captioned his post with, “I’m truly sorry.”
In the video, he reflected on his actions, saying,
It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you have to do that. I was f—ked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses.
My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions. I’m disgusted.
Diddy also mentioned his efforts to become a better person.
I was disgusted when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I sought professional help, went to therapy, and rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry.
Notably, before this footage emerged, the rapper had been denying all allegations made by Ventura, calling them “offensive and outrageous.
He also did not admit to any wrongdoing when Cassie filed a lawsuit in November 2023.
The internet has harshly criticized Diddy for his brutal treatment of Ventura, who is now 36 years old. However, some of his fans have commended him for owning up to his mistakes.
The video depicts Combs dragging and beating Ventura as she tried to escape from the hotel room. Before she could get away, Diddy, dressed in a towel, came out and attacked her. As she lay motionless on the ground, he kicked her several times.
