The ConjuringOne of the most successful horror franchises in history, The Conjuring is preparing to give fans a chilling farewell with its final installment. Scheduled for release on September 5, 2025, the finale will debut in both theaters and IMAX, promising an unforgettable experience for horror enthusiasts.
Although the upcoming film remains untitled, The Conjuring universe isn’t ending just yet. Fans can still look forward to more spin-offs, prequels, and other related titles such as “Annabelle” and “The Nun,” which will continue to explore the eerie world created by this beloved franchise.
Directed by James Wan and produced by Peter Safran, The Conjuring series centers around the real-life paranormal investigations of Lorraine and Ed Warren, portrayed by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson. Over the past decade, their portrayals of these ghost hunters have captivated audiences with their encounters with the supernatural.
In anticipation of The Conjuring finale, media reports have noted that New Line Cinema has adjusted its release schedule to accommodate this major event. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Bride!, a new take on the classic Bride of Frankenstein tale starring Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley, will now premiere on September 26, 2025.
As the final chapter of The Conjuring series approaches, the creators promise an immersive experience, designed to leave a lasting impression as fans prepare to say goodbye to one of horror’s most iconic series.
The journey began in 2013 with the release of the first Conjuring film, which became a massive success, grossing over $319 million worldwide. The franchise expanded with spin-offs like The Nun, which surpassed previous films by earning over $366 million globally. Altogether, The Conjuring universe has achieved a remarkable $2 billion at the box office, with earnings continuing to grow.
Another film often mistakenly thought to be part of The Conjuring universe is The Curse of La Llorona, directed by Michael Chaves, who also directed some of The Conjuring films. However, Chaves clarified that The Curse of La Llorona is not officially connected to The Conjuring series.
“There’s so much debate about it, and I think I’ve played coy in the past,” Chaves explained. “The idea was that [the Annabelle cameo] was going to be this little hidden thing that you were going to discover as you watch the movie. One of the reasons that it couldn’t formally be a part of the Conjuring universe is it didn’t include one of the key producers, which is Peter Safran. The Conjuring is his baby, he and James, and they are still the two core producers on it.”
As fans gear up for the release of the final Conjuring movie, the anticipation continues to build. This finale is set to deliver the kind of spine-tingling thrills and suspense that has made The Conjuring one of the most beloved horror series of all time.
