On Tuesday, June 25, Emma Roberts made a notable appearance on the popular podcast show “Table For Two.” During the interview, she discussed various aspects of her career, including whether aspiring to become a “massive movie star” was her main objective when she chose to follow in the footsteps of her father, Eric Roberts, and her aunt, Julia Roberts. Emma revealed that achieving A-list status was not always her ambition, as witnessing her aunt’s level of fame highlighted the daunting aspects of being a high-profile actress.
“I saw very up close what that looks like. It’s fun and it’s great, but there is a part of it that’s scary. So I’ve wanted to kind of carve my path. … Fame has never been the goal, because fame at a certain level is kind of scary,” Roberts explained.
Being closely related to two prominent Hollywood actors, Eric Roberts and Julia Roberts, Emma has often faced accusations of nepotism throughout her career in the entertainment industry. Addressing this issue on the podcast, she commented, “There’s two sides of the coin. People like to say, you know, you have a leg up because you have family in the industry. But then the other side to that is, you have to prove yourself more. Also, if people don’t have good experiences with other people in your family, then you’ll never get a chance.”
Emma further criticized the prevalent nepotism narrative online, pointing out that despite her father’s iconic status in Hollywood, she has encountered her own challenges.
She concluded by addressing the online critics who target “nepo babies,” emphasizing that these detractors “only see your wins, because they only see when you’re on the poster of a movie — they don’t see all the rejection along the way. That’s why I’m always very open about things I’ve auditioned for and haven’t gotten the part for.”
On the professional front, Emma Roberts recently appeared in the superhero film “Madame Web,” where she portrayed Mary Parker. Additionally, she has two upcoming films, “Space Cadet” and “Saurus City,” which are currently in post-production.
