Sean “Diddy” Combs has once again found himself at the center of controversy. Recently, the hip-hop mogul returned the key to New York City following a request from Mayor Eric Adams. Combs was initially awarded the key during a Times Square ceremony in September 2023, coinciding with the release of his album, “The Love Album: Off The Grid.”
When presenting the key, Mayor Adams remarked, “The bad boy of entertainment is getting the Key to the City from the bad boy of politics.”
Reports indicate that the mayor’s office requested the return of the key on June 4 and received it on June 10.
This request followed a viral video showing Diddy assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. In a letter to Diddy, the mayor’s office expressed deep concern over the video, stating, “I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.”
In recent months, Diddy has been embroiled in multiple lawsuits alleging sexual assault and abuse. In May 2024, CNN released CCTV footage from 2016 showing the 54-year-old rapper attacking Ventura at a hotel.
The footage depicts Diddy grabbing Cassie from behind, throwing her to the floor, and repeatedly kicking her. He also throws an object at her. Following the video’s release, Diddy took to social media to issue an apology, stating, “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that… I was fucked up — I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable.”
Diddy and Cassie were in a long-term relationship, and in November 2023, Cassie filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of rape and physical assault during their time together.
