According to a recent report by People, Brad Pitt is deeply affected by his daughter Shiloh’s decision to remove his last name. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, whom he shares with Angelina Jolie, legally dropped the surname on her 18th birthday. This move is part of a broader trend, as all the children Pitt co-parents with Jolie have been distancing themselves from his last name. A source close to the situation revealed to People that the 60-year-old actor is aware and significantly hurt by the development. Shiloh, who recently celebrated her 18th birthday, is the first among their six children to officially change her name.
Earlier reports indicate that Shiloh took decisive steps to initiate the change, hiring a lawyer and covering the costs herself. This decision follows allegations of “abuse history” and violations of Shiloh’s rights as a victim in the past.
Adding to the tension, Pitt and Jolie are currently embroiled in a bitter legal dispute over a 1,300-acre vineyard in France. Additionally, Pitt faces accusations of physically assaulting Jolie, allegedly in front of their children.
Shiloh’s name change, from Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie, has been a significant emotional blow for Pitt. A source shared Pitt’s feeling, stating:
He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter. The reminders that he’s lost his children are, of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.
Despite his happiness with Ines de Ramon, whom he has been reportedly dating, the estrangement from his children remains a source of deep pain for him.
Another source told People,
He still loves all of his kids tremendously. This whole process has been very hard for the whole family.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children, three of whom are adopted.
