Lizzo Responds to South Park’s Ozempic Joke About Her

The dark and satirical animated sitcom, South Park, recently turned its comedic lens on rapper and singer Lizzo in a rather controversial manner. In the latest episode, titled “The End of Obesity,” the 36-year-old artist was humorously referenced in an Ozempic joke, with her name being used as an alternative to the well-known weight-loss drug. Lizzo, known for her outspoken stance on body positivity, has often made headlines for her empowering messages.

In the episode, Eric Cartman seeks a prescription for Ozempic from his doctor but finds it too expensive. The doctor then humorously suggests an alternative: Lizzo.

The doctor’s character states,

“I’m prescribing Lizzo for you. She’s an amazing singer who promotes body positivity and embracing your appearance. Listen to Lizzo five times a day, and watch her videos before you go to bed. You’ll need to keep up with this regimen indefinitely.”

Adding to the satirical tone, the episode features FDA credentials for the “medicine” Lizzo, humorously stating,

“Lizzo helps you eat everything you want and keep physical activity to a minimum… stop listening to Lizzo if you experience suicidal thoughts. Serious side effects may include pancreatitis, hypothermia, and literally s****ing out of your ears.”

The episode also critiques the trend of celebrities promoting weight-loss drugs and takes aim at the inaccessibility of healthcare in America, blending humor with social commentary.

Lizzo responded to the episode with a TikTok reaction video, where the Grammy-winning singer expressed her surprise and amusement,

“That’s crazy. I just feel like, damn, I’m really that b**ch.”

She continued,

“I’ve truly demonstrated how to love yourself and not care about others’ opinions so effectively that even these guys in Colorado know who I am and featured me in their cartoon that’s been running for 25 years.”

South Park’s latest episode has sparked conversation and debate, highlighting the show’s continued relevance and its bold approach to contemporary issues through satire.
