Recent developments have led authorities to open an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has been delving into potential connections to the supply of ketamine, which was implicated in his demise.
At the time of his passing, medical reports indicated that Perry died from “acute effects of ketamine,” with drowning also cited as a contributing factor. On Tuesday, the LAPD announced that they are working closely with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the US Postal Inspection Service to uncover more details about Perry’s death.
Perry, who had a long history of battling addiction, was found unresponsive in his hot tub. Although Perry’s death was officially ruled accidental, there are lingering questions. Just a week before his death, Perry had undergone ketamine infusion therapy for depression. However, medical experts have clarified that the ketamine in his system was not from that therapy, as the medication’s half-life is only three to four hours.
