Kendrick Lamar Takes Aim at Drake Again with New Track “6:16 in LA”

Kendrick Lamar and Drake are two of the most prominent figures in today’s hip-hop scene. Recently, Lamar released a diss track aimed at Drake titled “Euphoria,” which dropped on Tuesday morning. Just three days later, on Friday, he released another track, “6:16 in LA.,” continuing his critique of Drake’s legacy.

Pulitzer Prize-winning musician Kendrick Lamar has taken another lyrical shot at Drake within the same week. His first diss track, “Euphoria,” released on Tuesday, received widespread praise from the hip-hop community. On Friday, Lamar followed up with a second track, “6:16 in LA.,” further addressing Drake.

“Euphoria” was released without any prior announcement and mocked various aspects of Drake’s career. The ongoing feud between these two celebrated artists has reignited in recent months, though it dates back over a decade when their relationship was more cordial. Both rappers were rising stars and even collaborated on notable tracks like Drake’s “Buried Alive Interlude” and Lamar’s “Poetic Justice.” However, tensions grew as Lamar asserted his dominance in the hip-hop scene through his lyrics, which eventually led to Drake taking offense.

Hip-hop experts believe the feud had simmered down until Lamar’s appearance on Metro Boomin’s track “Like That” rekindled it.

The joint album “We Don’t Trust You” by Future and Metro Boomin was launched on March 22, 2024. The duo followed up with another album in April titled “We Still Don’t Trust You,” featuring The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, Rick Ross, and J. Cole.

In response to Lamar’s tracks, Drake released two diss songs on April 19 titled “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” targeting Lamar, J. Cole, The Weeknd, Future, Metro Boomin, and Rick Ross.

Lamar’s “Euphoria,” released on April 30, is believed to be named after the HBO show that Drake executive produces.

“6:16 in LA.” marks Lamar’s second diss track in a week, and the hip-hop community eagerly awaits how the Grammy Award-winning Canadian artist will respond.
