Lahore police arrest man in murder case of Mayra Zulfiqar, British woman of Pakistan origin: Report

Mayra Zulfiqar, a British woman of Pakistani origin, had been threatened by two men after she supposedly rejected the matrimonial proposals of both.

A man was arrested in Lahore in relation to the murder of a 25-year British woman of Pakistani origin, according to a BBC report. Mayra Zulfiqar, who had arrived in Pakistan earlier this year to attend a wedding, she stayed at a rental accommodation in Lahore, when she was found dead with two bullet wounds and signs of torture in her body.

Zahir Jadoon was previously detained by the police, but she was not formally arrested after Zulfiqar’s uncle, and another man as key suspicion in the case of murder. The other man has not yet been arrested and is said to be cooperating with the investigation, BBC reported by citing man’s lawyer. Jadoon’s brother and the driver had been previously detained.

Zulfiqar, a graduate of the law, had been threatened by two men after he rejected the marriage proposals of both, the BBC reported by citing legal documents. According to a police report presented by Zulfiqar on April 20, a man had abducted her at a point and tried sexually a few days before.

When she managed to flee when alerting the passers-by, Zulfiqar said, the man threatened her, saying, “You can not escape from her, I’ll kill you,” according to BBC.
